"World Youth Day - not a WORLD away"

 

What is it?                    It's a weekend conference with teens and young adults in conjunction with the Holy Father's World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia.  There will be talks, music, skits, time for recreation and small group discussion.  Mass will be celebrated daily and opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Penance will be given.  We'll have the chance to view some of the World Youth Day events taking place in Sydney.

 

When is it?                   July 18-20, 2008

Participants will arrive late Friday afternoon for check-in, followed by dinner, welcome and Mass Friday evening.  The conference will end after lunch on Sunday.

 

Who's coming?              Teens and Young Adults from the Northeast United States.  These teens and young adults will be from the missions of the Parish Visitor Sisters; those who have attended the previous "World Youth Day - not a WORLD away" events; as well as those from parishes who have heard about the event and are eager to attend.

Where do I sleep?         Youth and Chaperones will sleep in Sacred Heart Parish School also located in Monroe, NY.  There will be separate sections for young men and teens in the gym and classrooms for young women and teens.  At least one adult chaperone is required for every ten participants.

 

Who is eligible?            All participants must be associated with a group or Youth Minister associated with the Parish Visitor Sisters  Youth must be entering grades, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in 2008 or be a 2008 graduate.  Young adults must be 25 or less by the conference. 

 

How do I register?        Registration is done by groups through the Sister/Youth minister through whom you receive this flyer.

 

What is the cost?          Cost for the weekend is $50.00.  This includes meals, housing and the conference.  Youth leaders should submit a $25.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit for each participant as soon as possible.
